The Officiant

Fr. Bartholomaeus Henneken (현익현 바르톨로메오, b. 1941) is a German-born missionary priest of the Order of St. Benedict at Waegwan Abbey. Ordained in 1966, he entered the Abbey of Münsterschwarzach and celebrated his golden jubilee of monastic vows in 2011. He served for twelve years as parish priest at Gasil Parish in Chilgok County, beloved by the local community for his warmth and compassion. Since retiring from parish ministry, he has returned to Waegwan Abbey for special pastoral work, and has long shared his spiritual guidance with pilgrims walking the “Hanti-ganeun-gil” (한티가는길), a Korean Catholic pilgrimage route.
